Hailing from south of legendary Statesboro, Georgia, Old Souls of the South is a five piece rock band that combines influences of southern rock, blues, outlaw country, Americana, folk, and even grunge. The band’s originals tell stories of real life in the South, fun times, heartbreak, hard work, and hard play. Old Souls of the South keeps the listener engaged with a repertoire of catchy covers by Merle Haggard, The Allman Brothers, Hank Williams, Jr., CCR, The Band, Bob Seger, and many others. Eddie Johnson’s gritty lead vocals and cutting guitar solos elevate his original songs and also add vibrancy to classic covers. With the input of talented drummer Matt Fischer, bassist Bill Stargel, rhythm & lead guitar work of Cody Smith, and the keyboard & saxophone stylings of Chuck Hutcheson, the band entertains with an energetic performance which catches the listener’s ears while keeping toes tapping & heads bobbing. After the band’s successful premier performance at the Suwannee River Jam at the Spirit of the Suwannee River Music Park, the band continues to perform regularly in Georgia, Northern Florida, and is planning short tours in the near future.
